Who we are
IDS is structured in closely linked departments. In this section you can find out more about each team’s aims and activities, including key contact information.
- Research Teams – our international development research programmes are organised in six closely linked multidisciplinary teams.
- Teaching and Library (BLDS) – our teaching team manages IDS’ teaching programme in collaboration with the University of Sussex. The British Library for Development Studies (BLDS) is located at IDS and contains the largest collection of economic and social development materials in Europe. It supports teaching and research at IDS and reaches a global online audience.
- IDS Knowledge Services and ILT – IDS Knowledge Services helps people to understand and make sense of the complexities and realities of poverty and inequality through a range of online services. The Impact and Learning team (ILT) is exploring and testing approaches on how communication of research can bring about change - in particular, what happens when people and technology mediate between researchers and decision makers.
- Professional Services - our Professional Services are responsible for the effective delivery of all non-academic activities within IDS, including managing IDS facilities, finance, communications and human resources.
