Kate Osamor MP Sussex Development Lecture

Kate Osamor MP, Shadow Secretary of State for International Development, will give a Sussex Development Lecture as part of the Spring 2018 series on the relationship between humanitarian aid, and long-term development.

About the speaker

Kate Osamor is the Labour & Co-operative Party MP for Edmonton and Shadow Secretary of State for International Development.

After leaving UEL with a BA degree in Third World Studies, Kate worked for the Big Issue, a magazine sold by homeless and long-term unemployed people. She later worked for 15 years in the NHS. In 2014 Kate was elected as a member of the National Executive Committee for the Labour Party and in 2015 as MP for Edmonton.

Kate was appointed PPS to Jeremy Corbyn MP, September 2015. She was appointed Minister for Women and Equalities in January 2016 and has been Shadow Secretary of State for International Development since June 2016. Kate is also chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Nigeria.
