Places to Eat and Drink

IDS has its own cafeteria and bar. There are also many eateries and bars on the university campus which visitors can use.

IDS Cafeteria

IDS catering staff serve breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea daily. Opening times are 08.00 - 14.00.

Lunch is available from 12.00-14.00 and consists of a range of hot and cold dishes that are freshly prepared by our in-house catering team. Vegan and vegetarian options are always available.

IDS Bar

The well-stocked bar offers real ales and a selection of other beers, wines and spirits. Its friendly, informal atmosphere makes it an ideal place to relax and meet other people who are visiting or working at the Institute. The IDS bar is open weekday lunchtimes and evenings from 12.00-14.30 and 17:00-22.30.

University of Sussex campus facilities

During vacation periods many of the cafés on campus are closed during the evening. However, central Brighton is only a short bus or train ride away and offers a wealth restaurants and bars to suit all tastes.

Conference Catering and Special Occasions

IDS catering staff can provide conference lunches and dinners, offering an imaginative range of menus and an excellent wine list. Buffets and receptions can also be arranged with vegetarian foods provided as part of the service.
