Finance
IDS research on Finance centres around the following two sub-themes:
Macro Finance
Net private capital flows to developing countries have recovered in the recent past, but still remains very volatile. More understanding is needed both of the factors that influence the supply of private capital flows and of the policy changes necessary to ensure a more stable global economic environment and a more sustainable flow of private capital to the developing and transition economies.
Microfinance
Our research and advisory work on Microfinance focuses mainly on social performance management.
The Imp-Act Consortium, a major consortium hosted by IDS, is a global group of organisations working to promote and support the management of social performance by MFIs.
Seven leading practitioner-focused organisations are collaborating to train and support MFIs to implement social performance management (SPM) systems, build global capacity to support SPM, share lessons learnt and 'good practice', and promote an enabling environment for SPM.
