Macro Finance or net private capital flows to developing countries have recovered in the recent past, but still remain very volatile. More understanding is needed both of the factors that influence the supply of private capital flows and of the policy changes necessary to ensure a more stable global economic environment and a more sustainable flow of private capital to the developing and transition economies.
The Globalisation Team has strong links with a number of key international organisations, as well as academics, policymakers and non-governmental organisations in both the industrialised and developing countries.

The key to solving the financial crisis is restoring faith in the financial system. Yet that faith is undermined by the existence of billions of dollars of toxic assets on bank balance sheets across the world. The US Treasury Secretary’s plan to tackle the problem is faltering because nobody knows how to value the toxic assets held by banks.
