State Capacity
IDS research on State Capacity centres on the changing role and capacity of the state in the face of globalisation, democratisation and liberalisation. IDS research includes:
- the role of the state in mobilising tax revenues and managing budgets
- fostering productivity and innovation in state organisations
- creating favourable conditions for private investment
- co-production of public services by state and non-state actors
- maintaining policy coherence in the face of donor proliferation
