Social Protection

Social Protection has risen rapidly up the policy agenda of governments, donors and NGOs globally. Within the recent economic crisis, early research studies suggest that those using social protection mechanisms are more effective than those countries without.

Centre for Social Protection at IDS

The Centre for Social Protection (CSP) at IDS is working to adresss these challenges. CSP brings together researchers from the Vulnerability and Poverty Team and partner organisations from five regions: Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, South Asia, East and Southeast Asia.

Crisis Watch

Our ongoing Crisis Watch project is monitoring the on-the-ground impacts of the recent financial crisis, methodological innovation around rapid assessments of impacts and its implications for policy.
