Frauke Urban

Interdisciplinary scientist with 10 years experience on the links between energy, climate change and development. Frauke currently works as Research Fellow in Climate Change and Development at the Institute of Development Studies IDS. Her research expertise includes energy and poverty, climate change mitigation, low carbon development, energy and climate policy and sustainable development.

She completed her PhD on low carbon energy transitions as climate change mitigation options for China and India in 2008. She currently holds a grant from the Economics and Social Research Council ESRC on China as a new 'shaper' of global development. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals such as World Development, Development Policy Review, Climatic Change, Energy Policy, Applied Energy and the Journal of Green Economics.

Frauke is currently the programme convenor at IDS for the MSc Climate Change and Development and in the academic year 2009-2010 she was the programme co-convenor for the MA Development Studies at IDS. In addition to her research and teaching experience, she has led international consultancies for governments and non-governmental organisations, including the UK Department for International Development DFID, CAFOD, Climate Strategies, Oxfam and Renewable World / Koru Foundation.
