Paola is a gender and development expert and activist with extensive experience of communications, networking and partnership building. Prior to working in academia, she worked for various NGOs on gender equality issues, including in Latin America. She is fluent in Spanish, French, Italian and English and has a keen interest to include the perspectives of non-English development thinkers and practitioners in the development debates occurring in the Anglophone world.

This BRIDGE Cutting Edge Programme on Gender and Food Security makes the case for a new, gender-aware understanding of food security, arguing that partial, apolitical and gender-blind diagnoses of the problem of food and nutrition insecurity is leading to insufficient policy responses and the failure to realise the right to food for all people.
