Ethical Trade in the Personal Care Sector
The objective of the study is to identify drivers and constraints of ethical trade in the Personal Care (Health and Beauty) sector. The overall aim is to encourage practices that promote decent working conditions in global supply chains.
The study will build on findings from a three year Impact Assessment that IDS carried out for the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI). The Impact Assessment was based on case studies in Food and Apparel sectors and identified various factors that drive or constrain supplier compliance with codes of labour practice. The study will expand on those findings, as there has been little research on ethical trade in the Personal Care sector.
