For over a decade, researchers in the IDS Environment Group (now the Knowledge, Technology and Society (KNOTS) Team) have been engaging with a growing body of work on policy processes which encompasses among other things: the relationship between science, expertise and policy, political interests, public participation and network theory. The stepping-off point for this work has been an interest in how environment and development policies came to be the way they are, and how and why they change - or why they do not.
