CSP Newsletter July Issue 13 Social Protection and Social Justice
4 August 2010
While Social Protection is regarded as an effective mechanism for contributing to economic growth, it can also play an important role in promoting social justice by addressing unequal distribution of natural advantages through redistribution. The various different social protection approaches and instruments have different considerations of social justice embedded within them. A conference, hosted by the Centre for Social Protection, to be held at IDS next April aims to explore future directions for social protection that go beyond social safety nets and risk management, to address broader concerns with redistributive equity and social injustice.
