Learning Hub for Adaptation
The CCDC are pleased to announce that they have been awarded an accountable grant with the Adaptation team in DFID's Policy Division to establish a Learning Hub for Adaptation (LHA). This work builds on the IDS reputation for evidence-based learning, connecting people, ideas and establishing fora for learning; particularly the Linking Climate Adaptation project, AfricaAdapt, and Sustainable Livelihoods Approaches work at IDS.
The hub recognises the need for DFID's programme staff and partners to learn rapidly around climate change and development issues, particularly in a national development planning context. Note that DFID staff will not be able to call on the services of the new largescale Climate Change Knowledge Network.
The initial phase of the LHA will run from now until April 2012 and will focus on creating a Learning and Support Network, backed by evidence, events, tools and other products, Applied Research and Analysis, and an international Expert Group to steer and input into the process.
The LHA provides a core hub on which to improve the cohesion and influence of ongoing related work at IDS and to leverage further work, starting with co-finance that we have already secured alongside the hub for a set of case studies on the political economy of adaptation and development.
The initial scoping phase during the next 3 months, led by Merylyn Hedger, will scope out some of the key DFID country programme needs, develop the expert group and further concretise the work programme.
