New Year Honours List

It is with great pleasure that we offer our congratulations to two people connected with the Institute of Development Studies, Diane Mulligan and Fazle Hasan Abed, who have been named in the Queen's New Year Honours List.
Fazle Hasan Abed is the founder and chairperson of BRAC and a former IDS Board Member. He has received a knighthood for services to poverty reduction worldwide and empowering the poor in Bangladesh.
Diane Mulligan is the disability and social inclusion advisor at the charity Sightsavers and campaigns on human rights and child rights issues, nationally and internationally. She used to work as a research officer in the Governance Team at IDS, tutoring students on our first ever Masters in Governance and Development in 1999. Diane has been awarded an OBE in for her services to disabled people and equal opportunities.
