Social Protection July Issue 9 Financial Crisis and Social Protection
In this issue we focus on the financial crisis and its implications for social protection. The financial crisis has mobilised those working on social protection and we have witnessed significant agreement and collaboration around social protection as a response to the financial crisis. Potentially, therefore, the crisis provides us with opportunities to develop long-term and long-lasting responses through social protection and to develop a social contract between the state and citizens. In this issue, we share some findings emerging from recent work and ask if we can see as a consensus emerging from current work and discussions on social protection and the financial crisis?
