The Big Question for Development, IDS Podcast February 2010

2 February 2010

Each month we speak to two people working on development issues across the world, finding out a bit about their work and asking them 'What do you think is the big question that Development Studies needs to answer?'

There are now just five years to reach the Millennium Development Goals, or MDGs, and this September the UN will meet with Heads of State and Government to review the MDGs and create a plan to reach them. Academics, civil society organisations and UN officials recently met to develop an action agenda to plan for the review process.

In this programme we speak to:

  • Andy Sumner: an IDS Research Fellow and editor of 'The MDGs and Beyond' the latest issue of the IDS Bulletin
  • Selim Jahan is Director of the UNDP Poverty Bureau about what the MDG review should be trying to achieve.
