The Institute of Development Studies (IDS) is a leading global institution for research, teaching and communications on international development, based at the University of Sussex. We have an opportunity in our Vulnerability and Poverty Reduction Team for a full time Administrative Assistant. The post holder will work with the Team Administrative Co-ordinator and the other Administrators to provide support to the Team Leader, the Fellows and all members of the team.
You will need to be enthusiastic and able to work to tight deadlines and enjoy working in a dynamic office environment. Specific training will be provided for this role but applicants should have a good working knowledge of Microsoft applications and have practical experience of using databases, spreadsheets and the internet.
The successful candidate will be tactful, assertive and articulate in meetings, will have cultural sensitivity and will have the ability to work autonomously with a high degree of motivation and initiative.
The Vulnerability and Poverty Reduction Team carries out research and policy work aimed at improving the understanding of vulnerability, and designing effective means of addressing it, as a central component of poverty reduction.
Salary: £17,051 - £21,170 per annum (depending on experience)
