Elise Wach’s work centres on learning and evaluation in order to enable organisations to better design and adapt their approaches to complex and dynamic situations.

Before joining IDS, Elise worked with international and grassroots NGOs primarily in sub-Saharan Africa and Central America, in programmes ranging from emergency famine response to inclusive business. Elise also founded and serves as executive director of Somos Hermanos, a social enterprise in Guatemala.

Her current portfolio includes facilitating learning and advising on M&E and impact evaluations for programming which seeks to influence policy and practice in the water, agriculture and nutrition sectors.

Elise’s interests include systems thinking, complexity, participatory and action research approaches, linking humanitarian relief and development, and the role of the private sector in development.
