Kate Bingley is a social development practitioner with expertise in evaluation, learning and capacity development. Kate has led multi-disciplinary teams to conduct public policy research in Sierra Leone and evaluation of a food security programme in Zambia; she has also evaluated interventions in Rwanda, Zanzibar, Bangladesh and the UK.

Previously she has managed programmes for Christian Aid and Oxfam GB in the Balkans and West Africa, and her experience spans programme inception as well as design and implementation of exit strategies.

She has worked on a broad range of development issues, including gender, governance, HIV and health. Kate has published findings of an ethnographic study on the role of music in promoting health and wellbeing among women in rural Sierra Leone.

Her interests are: impact evaluation methodologies; participatory approaches; interface between academia and development policy/ practice; indigenous knowledge systems; the role of music in community development.
