Children in a Changing Climate

'Innovative action-research and knowledge-sharing for child-centred approaches to tackling climate change'

Children in a changing climate logo IDS is working with leading research and development organisations to secure children and your people a voice in preventing and adapting to climate change – from their communities to the UN.

IDS coordinates the research strand of the Children in a Changing Climate programme, which supports the wider consortia with innovative action-research. This strand, termed ccc-research, provides the evidence base that enables practitioners, policy-makers and children themselves to take action to adapt to climate change.

Current research projects include:
• Children communicating climate and disaster risks: investigating child-led disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation
• Child rights to climate adaptation
• The role of gender and religion in child-led disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation
• The role of participatory video in amplifying children’s voices on climate change
• Developing participatory tools to promote child and youth-centred disaster risk reduction
• Building a climate smart future: enabling UK children’s charities to effectively manage the risks and opportunities presented by climate change.
