Rai, S. and Waylen, G. (2013) 'New Frontiers in Feminist Political Economy'

This volume brings together the work of outstanding feminist scholars to reflect on the achievements of feminist political economy and the challenges it faces in the 21st century. Key themes explored include the understanding of economies as gendered structures and economic crises as crises in social reproduction, as well as in finance and production, the assessment of economic policies through the lens of women's rights and analyses of global transformations in women's work.

The importance of the unpaid economy in which care is provided for family and communities is underlined and a critique provided of the ways in which policy makers are addressing (or failing to address) this unpaid economy. The book concludes with a reflection on the future challenges for feminist political economy in the context of multiple changes and instability in the global economy.
