This report describes research carried out at three research sites in the Southern Nation and Nationalities People's Region (SNNPR) of southern Ethiopia. The research was carried out using a sustainable livelihoods framework which emphasises the institutional arrangements through which people gain access to the necessary resources (or 'capitals') necessary to attain a livelihood. They do this through a combination of different strategies: agricultural production, livelihood diversification and migration.
