Research Officer – Rising Powers in International Development (532)

Full time, 35 hours per week
Fixed term initially for 12 months

We are seeking to recruit a highly-motivated Research Officer to join the core Rising Powers in International Development (RPID) team. The postholder will support the evolving programme of research, teaching and policy engagement work being carried out by both IDS-based and overseas partner researchers under the RPID programme and the Development Studies Learning Partnership (DSLP). S/he will also work with IDS Central Communications and the Network Development and Communications Consultant to implement the RPID programme communications strategy.

The postholder will need the ability and initiative to work autonomously, sometimes with minimal supervision, to play a key role in developing the RPID programme of publications and events and to facilitate effective communication with researchers based in the BRICS countries as well as with the wider programme network.

The successful candidate will have extensive research experience in international development with a good track record of writing for both academic and policy audiences. Applicants should have experience working with diverse networks, including civil society, academia and business ideally in BRICS countries and Africa.

A master's degree in development studies, international relations or a related field or significant relevant experience is required along with knowledge of qualitative, quantitative research methodologies.

Salary: Initial appointment will be between £23,587 - £35,231 per annum (depending on experience), in the IDS Grade 6 range.
