Addis Ababa reunion for IDS staff and alumni

Director of Teaching and Alumni Relations Robert Nurick and IDS Research Fellows, Mark Davies and Keetie Roelen were in Addis Ababa at the end of September, to deliver a Training of Trainers Programme in Social Protection. The programme is building the capacity of government officials to help them implement the forthcoming Ethiopia Social Protection Policy. Participants included IDS alumnus Akloweg Nigatu, a graduate from MA Science Society and Development.

Robert took the opportunity along with Mark and Keetie to host an alumni dinner. It was a great evening with Akloweg, Genene Regassa and Tesfa Mezgebe (MA Participation, Power and Social Change) and Asegedech Beyene (MA Gender and Development). The group had not met for sometime and this provided them with the chance to reactivate the alumni network. All four are planning regular networking dinners, the next one scheduled in a couple of months.
