Catherine is the Research Communications Officer for the global initiative, Making All Voices Count. Prior to joining IDS, Catherine worked, over the past ten years, as a Communication for Development consultant for a number of international organisations and the UK private and public sectors in communication strategy development and implementation, project management and research.

Previously she worked on Participate, a global initiative aimed at bringing the perspectives of the poorest and most marginalised into the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the UN’s post-2015 development agenda. Prior work includes for the UK Government’s Department for Education, the World Health Organisation's (WHO) African Regional Headquarters, the Commonwealth Secretariat, and Shujaaz.FM, an interactive comic and radio programme aimed at engaging and empowering Kenyan youth in development issues that impact their lives.

Catherine’s interests lie in the innovative use of communications for social and political change, and particularly participatory media to communicate marginalised people’s voices. She has worked with participatory video methods, digital storytelling, and ran multimedia workshops in a women's prison in the UK.
