Motasim Billah - Alumni Ambassador, Bangladesh
Motasim received his MSc in Climate Change and Development from IDS/UoS in 2013. He works as Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Specialist at USAID Bangladesh.
Prior to this he worked with ICLEI South Asia, New Delhi in the field of sustainability management and climate resilient city development. He also worked as a researcher at the Refugee and Migratory Movements Research Unit (RMMRU), University of Dhaka under the global consortium on DRC on migration and RPC on migrating out of poverty based at the University of Sussex.
Motasim has hands on development research in the areas of climate change, migration and development. Some of his research works are published by internationally reputed publishers like Springers and Edward Elger. He has first-hand experience of policy analysis and evidence based policy advocacy campaigns. He worked with policy making processes at the highest level of Bangladesh government. He represented RMMRU on migrant workers’ rights protection in several inter-ministerial committees in Bangladesh and regional consultative processes in Asia Pacific region.
Motasim also worked with the Foresight project of UK Government Office for sciences. He was a Chevening scholar of UK government in 2012. He is the climate leader in Bangladesh of the climate reality project, Washington D.C.
