The award of the title Emeritus Fellow is to honour and acknowledge long and outstanding service to, and continued association with IDS, and to show appreciation for valued colleagues who have shown great commitment to the Institute.
This category is open to those Fellows leaving or retiring from the Institute after sustained and exemplary service, and those who may have left some time ago, who are still associated with IDS and who IDS wish to recognise for their distinguished and sustained efforts.
On retiring or leaving IDS, an individual will receive a letter from the Director asking if they would be interested in a continued relationship with the Institute, which could mean becoming an Emeritus Fellow. The letter will outline the process for award of the title. The title may also be conferred on those who leave to take up a position elsewhere, when they are unlikely to return to IDS to work.
