The WTO Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPs) is the most comprehensive international agreement on intellectual property rights (IPRs), supplementing the basic World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) Conventions with substantive obligations within WTO disciplines.

The new regime, which offers both benefits and costs, presents a major task of implementation for which developing countries may well need help.
