The European Engagement Initiative signals the paramount importance of ongoing outreach and engagement across Europe and with European partners, despite the UK having left the European Union.

The Initiative consciously connects to European development (research) networks and sister institutes across the continent, to share learning on major global development challenges, consider how they may apply at home and reflect on European colonial histories and what Recasting Development could look like.

IDS is an active EADI member (European Association of Development Research) and has strategic partnerships with Institutes in the Netherlands like ISS (International Institute of Social Studies) or Germany like IDOS (the German Institute of Development and Sustainability).
