How can the arts be used in environmental communication and dialogue? We present experiences using arts-led deliberation from across Africa. Citizens, researchers, activists, policy actors, artists and others are welcome.

Watch now

Activists and policy actors in East and West Africa work to tackle environmental issues, but not always in dialogue with each other. Meanwhile, the role of the arts in environmental campaigning and awareness has become more prominent in recent years.

This webinar presents the work of the ‘Pan-African network for the arts in environmentally sustainable development in Africa’, which aims to use the arts to encourage dialogue between citizens and policy actors on issues of environmental importance. The project ran workshops where amateurs co-created artworks, to explore how and when the arts can be used to promote communication and deliberation between different groups. The webinar will present findings from various groups involved in these experiments, and will show the artworks co-created in five East and West African countries.
