As part of the REPAiR Project’s series on ‘rangeland myths’, the fourth online conversation of 2026 is on the myth of ‘carbon is carbon’.

The event is for anyone with an interest in rangelands, pastoralism and myths about them, with an invitation to join, share stories and rethink how we ‘see’ rangelands and pastoralism.
Speakers
- Saverio Krätli is a freelance researcher and editor of the journal Nomadic Peoples. His academic background is in development studies and philosophy.
- Ruan de Wet is a rangeland ecologist and currently technical director at Meat Naturally Africa, a social enterprise working on rangeland restoration on communal rangelands in South Africa.
- Meenal Tatpati is a lawyer-researcher who works at the intersection of documentation, research, and advocacy related to forest and wildlife conservation policies in India, as well as human rights and environmental justice.
Chairs
- Amber Huff, IDS Research Fellow and is the Principal Investigator of the REPAiR Project. Her research asks questions about value, ethics, representation and justice in a changed and changing world.
- Charis Enns is a Presidential Fellow in Socio-Environmental Systems at the Global Development Institute, University of Manchester.
