Nigeria has experienced a series of intersecting crises, ranging from Boko Haram violence in the North East, pastoral-farmer conflicts across its middle belt, flooding and periodic drought, and economic crises. In a country of its scale, with two in five households living in poverty, addressing the immediate impacts and longer-term legacies of these crises is important. This panel will consider the role of social assistance and broader support structures that households draw on in attempting to navigate the challenging landscape in pathways to zero poverty.
