Rethinking disaster and development: From control to care

Join online or in-person for this event co-convened by the University of Narobi, University of Sussex and IDS for a panel and networking event on rethinking development and disasters in the face of growing uncertainty and complexity.

This event is hosted by IDS Nairobi who celebrated their 60th anniversary last year. This panel event is aimed at challenging traditional development models that rely on prediction, control, and linear planning. Instead, vouching for approaches rooted in adaptability, care, inclusion, and learning.

Professor Ian Scoones (Institute of Development Studies) will be the keynote speaker, drawing from his latest book Navigating Uncertainty: Radical Rethinking for a Turbulent World. He will talk about how do we approach development in an increasingly uncertain world?
