Rising Powers and International Capital Movement: Principal Issues

How has international capital mobility affected emerging economies? What is the impact of rapid capital flows for the rising powers and their developing economies?

In this seminar, Alexander Bulatov, the Teaching and Learning Fellow in the Rising Powers in International Development Programme, will be discussing his research and the salient issues surrounding capital markets, capital movement and investment in the rising powers, with specific attention to the problems of capital flight in countries such as the BRICS.

Alexander Bulatov is the Head of the World Economy Department at MGIMO University in Moscow. He has been working as a visiting fellow with the RPID programme to develop a course on emerging economies in the international capital movement.
