Showcasing leaders and leadership in Bangladesh

24 November 2016 10:00–12:00

BRAC Inn Centre, Mohakhali Dhaka, Bangladesh

The Institute of Development Studies Alumni Association, Bangladesh, holds a seminar on-Showcasing Leaders and Leadership in Bangladesh.

The seminar will showcase the achievements of three high achievers in Bangladesh; who have been playing an iconic role in their respective sectors in promoting female entrepreneurship in the leather industry sector; integrating information and communications technology (ICT) into the health service delivery in the rural areas and mainstreaming marginalised overseas labour migrants’ voices in the national level policy making processes. These leaders will reflect from their experiences to discuss what is a leader? what is leadership? And how can leadership be developed for development in Bangladesh?

The seminar marks the 50 years celebration of the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), at the University of Sussex, Brighton, UK. IDS is one of the top leading institutions in the world on development research, teaching and learning. It promotes people’s meaningful participation in the development programmes, and impact measurement of development initiatives.

The Dhaka seminar is part of a year of IDS Alumni events to mark the IDS 50th anniversary in 2016. Founded in 2004, the IDS Alumni Association, Bangladesh is a group of individuals who have their footprints at IDS; making a mark in Bangladesh ranging from development, journalism to tourism, and private sector. It is a platform for alumni members to share their knowledge, experiences and build professional network. The forum often organises seminar, and discussion sessions to observe special national and international days.
