About the lecture

An examination of claims that climate change is likely to be a major driver of future migration. Professor Black will argue that although the volume of migration to 2050 is likely to increase substantially, with major impacts on developing countries, we need a new approach to understand both its volume and significance.

About the speaker

Professor Richard Black, Head of the School of Global Studies at the University of Sussex and until 2010 was Director of the DRC on Migration, Globalisation and Poverty. He has worked as a consultant for a number of international organisations, including the UNDP, the UNHCR and the European Training Foundation.
