Join the IDS-led Coalition for Religious Equality and Inclusive Development (CREID), Fiona Bruce, UK Special Envoy on Freedom of Religion or Belief , Lloyd Russell-Moyle MP and the APPG on FoRB to discuss and debate recommendations for the future of the UK’s pro-FoRB and pro-poor policy and aid programming.
“The world is falling short… we are dealing with outright inaction and negligence in the protection of minority rights.”
António Guterres, UN Secretary General
Secretary General, António Guterres did not mince his words earlier this year as the UN commemorated the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration on the Rights of Persons Belonging to National or Ethnic, Religious and Linguistic Minorities at the UN General Assembly in New York.
Over the past four years, CREID has worked with marginalised communities primarily in Egypt, India, Iraq, Nigeria and Pakistan. We have produced a unique body of academic research, citizen blogs and media coverage; brought together faith leaders, human rights activists, and policymakers; trained young people, run education and awareness campaigns, created and delivered practical on-the-ground development projects, such as the installation of streetlights and water filtration plants, and more!
So what can we learn from this wealth of evidence? And what are the implications for UK policy on supporting freedom of religion or belief?
