Life at IDS
Unique learning environment
Studying at IDS is a unique experience. Unlike in many universities, you’re surrounded by researchers in action, all working for equitable and sustainable change.
Our course convenors and instructors are all active researchers and aim to enhance the learning experience by bringing their applied knowledge and experiences of working in development, or ‘the field’, into the classroom.
Our degrees seek to foster mutual learning and critical thinking and inspire innovative approaches to complex development challenges.
Students and alumni are members of the IDS community, a truly global network that enriches the curriculum experience and provides lifelong professional networks and friendships.
Nine minutes from Brighton, an hour from London and nestled in the stunning South Downs National Park, our beautiful single-site campus exudes a unique combination of tranquillity and energy.
