Five-stars for transparency

Published on 19 July 2018

IDS has been awarded five-stars for transparency in the Transparify 2018 global rating of the financial transparency of major think tanks.

Transparify rates the extent to which policy-relevant nonprofits (such as think tanks, advocacy groups and non-profit media platforms) disclose who funds them, with how much and for what purposes, publicly on their websites.

IDS Director of Communications and Impact James Georgalakis said:

“We’re happy to have achieved the five-star rating once again. Transparency and accountability are core to IDS, both in terms of what we work on and how we work. It’s great to see that that non-profits are becoming more transparent around the world. It’s more important than ever that organisations take transparency seriously, to maintain the trust of their partners and the wider public .”

Dr. Hans Gutbrod, Transparify’s Executive Director said:

“The expansion of transparent think tanks over the last five years shows that financial transparency is becoming the norm among high quality institutions the world over.”
