The Sanitation Learning Hub have recently been working hard to produce a new website with fresh branding, following the start of a new four-year programme funded by Sida.
We think everyone has the right to safely-managed sanitation and hygiene, and we need to make sure no one is left behind in the drive to end open defecation for good. We want to enable the sector to innovate, adapt and collaborate in a rapidly evolving landscape, feeding learning into policies and practice, and we hope our website will play a key role in achieving this.
As part of the process of creating the website, we carried out stakeholder interviews to explore the practical learning and research needs of the water, sanitation and hygiene sector. We had a close look at what’s already available and widely used and made note of essential gaps. Bearing these findings and our vision in mind, our website prioritises timely, relevant and actionable learning and research with an emphasis on participatory approaches and methodologies.
We’re delighted to say the website has now launched and we hope it will be a useful resource for the sector. You can take a look at the website here: https://sanitationlearninghub.org/
We’ve divided the website into three main sections.
Practical support
This section includes recommended approaches and practical tools to help sanitation and hygiene practitioners do their job well. This section reflects our commitment to adaptable, ‘combinable’ and context-specific learning and sanitation approaches. Each approach page has an introduction and key related resources.
Current thinking
We have divided resources by nine themes in this section. Each theme has an introduction, key related resources, and sub-themes that get into more detail.
If you have a resource that you think would fit well and be useful for the sector, we’d love to hear from you. You can submit a resource using the form linked in the website footer, or email us on [email protected].
Our desire to bring together sanitation and hygiene professionals is reflected here. You can find our blogs, news and events in the sector and more information about our workshops, including stories from participants of past workshops. You can also submit a blog in this section – we’d love to hear from you.
