Dr Syeda Jenifa Zahan is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher with the project titled “Governing the ungovernable: Understanding the space-violence relationship through an interrogation of municipal and police functioning” undertaken collaboratively by the Nepal Peacebuilding Initiative, Nepal and the Institute of Development Studies, UK.
Jenifa’s research expertise lie in the areas of feminist urban geography, geographies of gender-based violence, urban public spaces, gendered urban resilience and resistance, and urban governance of (in)securities. Jenifa has fieldwork experiences in South Asia (India, Nepal, Sri Lanka) and South East Asia (Singapore). Jenifa completed her PhD in Human Geography from the National University of Singapore, where she also taught various undergraduate modules in Human Geography between 2015-2019.
