PhD student

Endah is currently a postgraduate researcher at the Institute of Development Studies, UK. Her work is focused on how citizens participate across different spaces in the context of participatory village governance and how do these experiences shape lived citizenship. She uses qualitative and participatory methods to investigate participation and citizenship from the policymakers’ perspective and citizens’ views, allowing a critical look into power dynamics in the processes.

Before coming to the IDS, Endah worked as an assistant professor at the National Institute of Public Administration, Indonesia. She is experienced in teaching and facilitating development administration through various trainings and courses such as development planning, development monitoring, development issues and paradigm, and the politics of development. Currently, she is on leave of absence to pursue her PhD research in the UK.

Endah holds a B.Soc.Sc in Public Administration and M.Sc in International Development. At the IDS, she is attached to Participation, Inclusion & Social Change and Power & Popular Politics clusters. She is supervised by John Gaventa and Jo Howard.
