Galileo Yap Jia Yi

Research Assistant

Galileo Yap is a masters student in the MA Globalisation, Business and Development programme at IDS. He has a background in strategy consulting and business management, with skills in strategic analysis, research and data visualisation, and his research interests include technological innovation, entrepreneurship, and its application towards driving sustainable development.

He works with the Centre for Rising Powers and Global Development, where he contributed to the ‘Urbanisation in Africa and China’ project as a Research Assistant. Within the project, his research focused on analysing the impact of technology and innovation on urban processes in China and Africa, as well as developing key recommendations for urban policymakers and stakeholders in these countries.

Prior to his masters studies and research, Galileo was a strategy consultant at EY-Parthenon, with extensive experience working with leading firms across the Asia-Pacific region. His engagements included strategic due diligence, profitability turnaround and finance transformation projects, helping clients capitalise on strategic opportunities by providing in-depth market, competitor and customer insights for value-adding recommendations.

He also completed his B.B.A. from the National University of Singapore, with specialisations in finance and accounting, where he graduated with First Class Honours.
