JoonYeol Lee is undertaking a postgraduate researcher at the Institute of Development Studies.

His research title is:

‘How Myanmar farmers have been implemented their agency under the diverse power structures during the last thirty years.’

This topic is being researched in respect to the case of the rubber value chain in Myanmar and 30 years period where there has been democratic and economic transition, as well as ethnic military conflict.

John Gaventa, Jodie Thorpe, and Marjoke Oosterom are his PhD supervisors.

Prior to undertaking a PhD JoonYeol worked for the South Korean government as a programme coordinator in Myanmar.
