Editorial Coordinator

Lewis Small is an Editorial Coordinator in the Knowledge, Impact and Policy cluster at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS).

He has worked in the publishing sector for ten years, and has worked at IDS since January 2020. He oversees the editorial production of all non-series (project) publications, and supports the production of IDS series publications, including its gold open access journal the IDS Bulletin. Prior to joining IDS, Lewis worked in editorial and print production roles at magazine publishing houses.

Since joining IDS, Lewis has worked on a range of projects and programmes, including: Knowledge, Evidence and Learning for Development (K4D); the Social Science in Humanitarian Action Platform (SSHAP); Better Assistance in Crises (BASIC) Research; the Covid Collective Research Platform; Covid-19 Responses for Equity (CORE) Knowledge Translation Support; Child Labour: Action-Research-Innovation in South and South-Eastern Asia (CLARISSA); Action for Empowerment and Accountability (A4EA); the Coalition for Religious Equality and Inclusive Development (CREID); New Community-Informed Approaches to Humanitarian Protection and Restraint: Women’s Agency in The Democratic Republic of the Congo; Knowledge Translation in the Global South; the African Digital Rights Network (ADRN), and Irish Aid.

He holds a BA in English and Media, Communications and Culture from the University of Keele, and an MA in Anthropology from the University of Sussex.

This knowledge translation project aimed to increase the visibility, support and uptake of research generated by IDRC’s cohort of CORE research projects, to foster evidence-based policymaking for response to and recovery from the socio-economic impacts of Covid-19.
