After graduation from IDS I worked for five years with EngenderHealth as a program officer, where I provided technical oversight to over 20 institutions, 200 volunteers and 7 sub-grantees to ensure that the design and implementation of HIV/AIDS and Reproductive Health programs were addressing prevailing gender norms and inequalities, and ensuring that activities addressed the unique needs of men and women.
After Engender Health I worked briefly with the Belgian Technical Cooperation as a Technical Advisor for Gender and Governance. Then, and until very recently, I was with Sikika a vibrant CSO working on health governance as a program officer in the Public Financial Management team, and I was also the HIV/AIDS and Gender focal person.
It is the governance knowledge I was taught at IDS which has enpowered me with the skills and confidence to take up, perform, and excel on these challenging roles in local and international NGOs in Tanzania.
