Poppy Bardwell

Jessica is a Public Health Nutritionist (LSHTM) with research interests in malnutrition in all its forms and nutrition sensitive approaches. She works as a Knowledge Officer in the Knowledge, Impact and Policy team, co-ordinating a number of projects with a focus on research uptake, stakeholder engagement and policy influence.

Before joining IDS, Jessica worked in the Policy and Advocacy department for Save the Children UK and at the Centre for International Health and Development, UCL where she worked on developing a competency framework for staff working in emergency settings.

In partnership with Results for Development and Results ACTION Partnership, the Institute of Development Studies is part of a consortium that aims to build accountability, strengthen policy and foster leadership in nutrition.

IDS are working to design, develop and maintain an online knowledge exchange forum to facilitate consultation during development of training packages, to increase the nutrition capacity of frontline workers in East Africa.

This projects aims to study the links between malnutrition and poverty and between maternal and child malnutrition in OIC countries.

Stories of Change in Nutrition are a series of structured case studies in 6 countries: Bangladesh, Nepal, Odisha (India), Ethiopia, Senegal and Zambia. These ‘stories’ aim to improve our understanding of what drives impact in reducing undernutrition, and how enabling environments and pro-nutrition policy and implementation processes can be cultivated and sustained. This work is funded by CIFF and DFID through Transform Nutrition.

MQSUN aims to provide DFID with technical services to improve the quality of nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive programmes. Services will be provided on a call down basis to DFID country offices over a period of four years.
