Project Overview
This innovative research project explores the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in interviewing healthcare workers in Sierra Leone to explore their knowledge and beliefs on transdisciplinarity and working with communities in epidemics and pandemics. We are partnering with Njala University, AKA Research and Colectiv, who are experts in behavioural science and tech-enabled research to evaluate the effectiveness of AI-assisted interviews compared to traditional methods in understanding pandemic preparedness and response strategies.
Research Context
Sierra Leone has faced significant health challenges, including the West African Ebola outbreak (2014-2016) and the COVID-19 pandemic (2019-2023). This unique context provides valuable insights into community-driven health responses and transdisciplinary approaches to disease management.
Expected Impact
Our work is expected to have significant impact in multiple areas. We anticipate enhancing data collection methods in health research, providing insights for improved pandemic preparedness, contributing to innovative research methodologies, and informing future health policies and practices in resource-limited settings.
