The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) and Jodie Thorpe of the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) partnered together to deploy the ‘ANDE/IDS Gender Inclusion and Investing for Brazilian SGBs in the Creative Economy’ project. This project was funded by the British Council’s Developing Inclusive and Creative Economies (DICE) Collaboration Grant.
ANDE and IDS engaged with ecosystem actors across Brazil to strengthen Brazil’s social and creative enterprise and small and growing business (SGB) ecosystem in support of inclusive economies.
The project:
1) Trained intermediaries working with social and creative enterprises on how to integrate women’s empowerment into their core business models.
2) Educated Brazilian impact investors about the creative economy and how to invest in social and creative enterprises using a gender lens.
This intervention aims to support around 100 social and creative enterprises, which will be provided to these enterprises through the training of intermediary organisations that work with or have the potential to start working with social and creative enterprises.
The project’s report ‘Building a Gender Lens to Support Small and Growing Businesses: Insights from Brazil’ can be accessed here.
The video below, given in Portuguese by the project partners Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE), explains the project and its outputs.
