The research team led by Marc Berenson is undertaking an evaluation of the effectiveness of the World Jewish Relief’s four-year Wohl Livelihood Development Programme (LDP) in Ukraine.
The World Jewish Relief (WJR), a charity dedicated to fighting human suffering and serving the urgent needs of primarily, but not exclusively, Jewish communities who are at risk or in crisis around the world, is establishing community job centres within Jewish Community Centres in the Ukrainian cities of Kharkiv, Zaporizhye and Kriviy Rih, beginning in June 2012.
The LDP programme is designed to support approximately 2,000 participants of employable age within the Jewish community who are on low incomes or out of work. The programme will seek to remove existing barriers to finding work through three key interventions (the establishment of job centres, skills academies and child care facilities) and, in so doing, help strengthen the long term future of these communities.
The evaluation will assess how well the LDP programme meets its objectives and outcomes and also will capture relevant lessons based on quantitative and qualitative learning.
